The Little Red Hen

The Little Red Hen is a unique rooming house, offering amenities of a rural North Carolina farmhouse in the early 1900's. We invite you to enjoy the simple life - an early morning rooster call, an evening rocking on the porch, visiting with the friendly goats, or warming by the cook stove on a chilly day. The upstairs bedrooms offer line-dried, sunshine-fresh vintage linens and period furniture. Common areas are downstairs, including the shared bathroom. Four miles from TIEC! Read More Below

The upstairs of the house includes three vintage decor bedrooms and the downstairs has a common living room with a wood stove, a farmhouse dining room, the shared guest bathroom, kitchen, and our private room and bath. The living room has a TV with Netflix available, as well as, books and classic games (checkers, chess, cards) for some old fashioned fun. Our small kitchen is available for stovetop and oven use, and food storage. Refrigerator space is limited, freezer space available. Complimentary fresh fruit, snacks, and cheese and crackers always available.

***PLEASE NOTE ***We have three rooms available for rent – you may be sharing a bathroom with up to four other guests if all rooms are rented. The bedrooms do not have modern locks on the old doors – there are eye hooks on the interior side on the bedroom for privacy. We operate on the Honor System and expect our guest to respect the privacy of other guests by not entering other bedrooms. Thank you!

Feel free to walk our small garden, and visit the goats and chickens – Just ask before you go and I’ll give you a tour – make sure you close the gates behind you!

Our house is busy with living and you can be a part of the routine, or find privacy upstairs. We are pretty informal and would enjoy socializing with guests as time allows. Coffee will be brewing in the morning and guests are welcomed to join!

The Little Red Hen rooming house has the old house charm, complete with creaky floors, narrow hallways, and one shared bath for house guests. The summers can be hot and the winters can be cold! It’s a quirky old farmhouse – If you love nostalgia and vintage living, come visit us – ALL ARE WELCOME!
