Annual Martin Luther King Celebration

January 25, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Event Navigation

The Thermal Belt Friendship Council will present the annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Saturday, January 25, at 5 pm at the Tryon Fine Arts Center. The program will feature a scholarship award presentation, music by The Unity Choir led by Dr. Joseph Fox, and a keynote address by Fredrick Murphy.

Mr. Murphy will show excerpts from his documentary film “The American South as We Know It,” which was recently shown at the Tryon International Film Festival. Following the film, he will engage with the audience in a lively and informative discussion of the stories and themes presented in the film. The program will be followed by a free reception for all participants. This program is made possible by a generous Kirby Civic Events fund from the Polk County Community Foundation.♦
