Armchair Traveler-Sacagawea

January 27, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join FENCE on Sunday, January 27th at 4pm for an Armchair Traveler with Mary Dailey, portraying Sacagawea. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served after the presentation.

Sacagawea, the young Native American woman who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their arduous journey west in 1805, has inspired countless enduring myths and legends. More monuments stand in her honor than to any other woman in American history, yet she spoke no English and was only 16 years old with an infant son when she joined the expedition. In this captivating portrayal, hear her remarkable story with important, often overshadowed details. The program is presented in costume and includes an opportunity for audience questions/comments.

Mary Dailey is a teaching artist in the West Virginia public school system, a West Virginia Humanities “History Alive!” presenter, and a performing musician with the Appalachian vocal duo LITTLE SPARROW. She resides in wild, wonderful southern West Virginia.

This program is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation.
