Call for Artists – Open Juried Show
As part of a celebration of 50 years as a gallery in Tryon, Tryon Painters & Sculptors and cosponsor, Partnership for Horses, are holding an open juried show that will be displayed from September 15 through October 13, 2018. Artists age 18 and over may submit up to 2 pieces of 2D or 3D work. The works must be original, not previously shown at the TPS gallery, created in the past 2 years, appropriate to the theme, For the Love of Horses, and for sale. Works considered appropriate to the theme can include any aspect of equestrian lifestyle, from attire to pastoral scenery to activities, or any abstract representation.
Prizes include cash, gift certificates, and Viewers Choice Award, exceeding $1500. First prize will be $500, second prize is $350, and third prize is $250. Prizes will be announced at the show opening on September 15 between 5 and 7 p.m.
The show will be juried by C. Allen Coleman, an artist, curator, and seasoned creative professional who has administered approximately two hundred exhibitions and has been involved in over four hundred exhibits, performances, and presentations. He has degrees in Art and Art Education from Brevard College and Appalachian State University with graduate and post-graduate work at New York University.
The work must be appropriately mounted for display with a maximum size of 40 inches. Member fee is $30 for first work, $20 for second. Non-member fee is $45 for first work, $25 for second. Contact the gallery for the complete guidelines and contract to read, sign and bring with you when you deliver your work.
Works must be delivered to the gallery Sunday, September 9 between 1 and 4 p.m. or Monday, September 10 between 11 and 4 p.m. The judging will be September 11. Works not selected for the show should be picked up Thursday, September 13 between 11 and 4 p.m.
