Bobby Silvers is a nurse anesthetist (CRNA) who lives now in Mill Spring. He has been on 3 medical mission trips to Cartagena, Colombia, and 8 trips to the West Bank of Palestine with a medical team organized by a surgeon at UNC-CH hospitals. While in the West Bank, he provided anesthesia services for over 200 surgeries, most of them reconstructive craniofacial procedures such as cleft lip and cleft palate repair on children as young as 3 months. He also instructed anesthesia providers there in the anesthesia care of pediatric patients undergoing reconstructive procedures. He discusses his medical team’s efforts to aid Palestinian children with craniofacial reconstructive surgery.
