Step Back in History Program Series will feature the Story of Madame Phoebe Sullivan

The Step Back in History program series features programs pertaining to Saluda’s rich history and historic preservation. The next program will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saluda Center and will feature the story of Madame Phoebe Sullivan. Madame Sullivan was a healer, herb doctor, mystic, prophet, and leader in Saluda’s black community. The Saluda Community Land Trust will co-host this event and will be available to discuss their efforts to rebuild Sullivan’s Temple, founded by Madame Sullivan. The committee welcomes all to come and have fun while learning about Saluda’s history. All ages are welcome and refreshments will be served. Additional programs will be offered quarterly throughout 2019.
