Tales of Tryon: Hub Arledge and Bill Mc Call’s Boyhood Memories of 1950s Tryon”
The Tryon History Museum is planning a special “Tales of Tryon” featuring two enthusiastic presenters, Hub Arledge and Bill McCall, on Thursday, June 30, at 5:00 at the Tryon Depot Room.
Hub and Bill have been lifelong friends and share early Tryon “roots”. They were both born at old St. Luke’s Hospital and attended Tryon Grade School and High School “up the hill” on School Street. At a young age they learned to play golf at the Tryon County Club, enjoyed summer adventures as Lake Lanier Boy Scouts Camp and as seniors they became lifeguards at the Tryon Country Club.
Eventually as adults they both entered their fathers’ professions: Hub with Arledge Printers and Bill with McCall Family Dentistry.
Hub and Bill describe themselves as just ”local yokels” who love bending your ear about their Tryon’s Good Ole Days.
Their reminiscing will include Valhalla, The Valley, Tryon Country Club, Hub’s Grandmother Lou Ballew’s Boarding House (now Stotts Ford) and a variety of Trade Street businesses.
Join us in a causal time of reminiscing with Hub and Bill who will welcome audience participation. If you enjoy “soaking up” local Tryon history this “Tales of Tryon” will be quite an entertaining program.
Mark your calendars Thursday, June 30, at 5:00 pm. in the Tryon Depot Room at Parsec Financial 22 Depot Street, Tryon, NC.
