We invite you to come in and explore the Saluda Historic Depot, built in 1903 in Saluda, NC. See local and train history, displays and memorabilia related to the Saluda Grade, which crests at the top of this small mountain village and is the steepest, mainline, standard gauge railroad in the country. You will discover how the small town of Saluda came together to save and preserve the depot, moving it to its present location in 1983. The well-preserved interior retains its unpainted vertical beaded board sheathing and paneling and some counters. The Depot is on the National Registry of Historic Places
The Saluda Depot Museum is staffed by volunteers and open for tours from Thursday to Saturday 12-4pm and on Sunday 1-4pm – check their web site for the latest hours and information. Admission is always free and voluntary donations are appreciated.
