Green Creek

OK, so Green Creek isn’t really a town – you won’t find a main street or a central area for shopping or dining. It’s a name used broadly by locals to represent a beautiful area – the southeast corner of Polk County. Beyond our 3 small towns, Green Creek is our next-largest area with things for you to do and see.

The first settlers in this area made Green Creek their home. This rural community hasn’t changed much over the years. It is home to rolling farmland and beautiful long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The area was founded on agriculture – growing everything from cotton, corn, wheat and oats plus raising dairy and beef cattle –- a family tradition that continues today.

This broad area, which encompasses different townships, does not have a post office and relies on rural delivery from neighboring towns, so mailing addresses will list Columbus, Tryon, or Rutherfordton. This can make things mighty confusing to find, so check out our interactive map or give us a call to find out where things really are.
