Stearns Park is located in the heart of downtown Columbus with a breathtaking view of the mountains on one side and the Historic Polk County Courthouse on the other. There is lots of room for the kids to run and play, with a gazebo, walking track and picnic area as well. Dogs must be leashed. Stearns Park is especially well known as the site of one of the best 4th of July celebrations in the region – the Columbus Fabulous 4th. Many other holiday festivities are held here throughout the year, including The Town of Columbus Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Carnival and A Christmas Carol when the park is all aglow with the joy of the season. Stearns Park is an important part of local history.

The Howard Monument is located on the southeastern corner. Directly across the street, built in 1859, is the Polk County Courthouse along with a Civil War Trail marker and the Doughboy Statue. Also, within walking distance is the Polk County History Museum at 60 Walker St. The Park is located on E Mills St./Hwy 108 just over a mile from I-26 (exit 67) and almost a mile from Hwy 74 (exit 163).
