A Brief History of Lacemaking and Its Various Designs

The Polk County Historical Association will feature a presentation on the history and art of lacemaking on Friday, Sept. 18, at the Polk County History Museum in downtown Columbus.
The program, titled “A Brief History of Lacemaking and Its Various Designs,” will be presented by members of the Tryon Lacemakers from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
Tryon Lacemakers will demonstrate their skills from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and visitors will have an opportunity to try bobbin lacemaking.
The program is being held earlier than the historical association’s typical monthly programs, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early to view the demonstrations and learn more about the craft.
The Polk County History Museum is co-located with the House of Flags Museum at 33 Gibson St., behind the historic Polk County Courthouse.
The program is free and open to the public.
