Winner of First Prize and Best Concerto Prize at the 2020 National Chopin Piano Competition, pianist Avery Gagliano was the only American semifinalist at the 18th International Chopin Competition in 2021. Other awards include the Audience Prize at the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition, and the Aspen Music Festival Concerto Competition. In 2023, Ms. Gagliano was invited by Sir András Schiff to participate in his Building Bridges concert series in Europe.
She made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 20 and has since appeared in distinguished venues such as Luxembourg Philharmonie, Ehrbar Saal in Vienna, La Grange au Lac in Évian, and Miami International Piano Festival. More venues include the Verbier, Gilmore, Bravo!Vail!, Ravinia, and Aspen music festivals. Solo performances with orchestras have taken her to Louisville, Maryland, Aspen, New York, and Warsaw.
This young pianist brings emotional depth, sincerity, and exquisite voicing to her playing. Her thoughtful and intriguing spirit on the stage has made her a favorite of audiences. “Her ability to inhabit every room in the immense imagination of Frédéric Chopin came as a revelation,” wrote the New York Classical Review.♦
