In partnership with Chimney Rock State Park, we are thrilled to bring a Groundhog Day celebration to Tryon International! This fun family friendly event celebrates our community, the incoming spring season, and Chimney Rock’s 20th annual Groundhog Day, with plenty of activities for a fun afternoon. Tater, Chimney Rock State Park’s resident groundhog, will make his big prediction at 1:30PM. Be sure to join us, and find out…will we have six more weeks of winter, or will spring arrive early?
The public is invited to attend this family-friendly event on February 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Tryon International. All ages will enjoy activities with park naturalists and staff, including meeting Chimney Rock’s animal ambassadors, creating groundhog-themed crafts, and more.
At 1:30 PM, Tater the Groundhog will make his highly anticipated prediction on the arrival of spring and forecast the winner of Super Bowl LIX, announced by Chimney Rock Village Mayor Peter O’Leary. Chimney Rock groundhogs historically have a 60% accuracy rate in prognosticating both the arrival of spring and the Super Bowl outcome, so we’re optimistic for Tater’s forecast this year!
In addition to the Groundhog Day festivities, Tryon International will offer ice skating, a carousel, and a variety of dining options for the whole family. WNC Main Street will also be open for shopping, providing an opportunity to support local businesses impacted by the storm, including those from Chimney Rock Village.
