Coon Dog Day in Saluda

July 7, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 pm

Coon Dog Day  The festivities kick off early at 8 AM on Main Street with the 5K race through town. Live music and vendors start at 9 AM. The parade starts at 11 AM with homemade floats, fire trucks, antique tractors, classic cars, Coon Dog Day King and Queen, and plenty of coon dogs.  Thousands of visitors flock to Saluda for this event.  Come early and stay the day.

55th Annual Coon Dog Day

Saluda’s 54th Annual Coon Dog Day Festival is Saturday, July 7, 2018.  The fun will begin with the 5K Race at 8:00 a.m.  The runners will start and end downtown so be sure to be there to cheer on all of them! Register at cityofsaludanc.com website.

Something new this year will be the Slip ‘N Slide sponsored by the Saluda Volunteer Fire Department beginning at 1:00 p.m. across the street from Saluda School on Hwy 176.  Free to kids of all ages.  And speaking of something new, be sure to try out Red Neck Horseshoes located beside MA Pace Store.

At 2:30 p.m. the AKC licensed bench show in the Pavilion at McCreery Park will offer you all of the coon dogs you ever wanted to see!  The entry fee is $20.  Immediately following, the treeing contest begins with an entry fee is $5.

At 4:00 p.m. you don’t want to miss the Big Wheel Race down Greenville Street!  It promises to be even better this year with more hay bales to maneuver around to stay on course!

Amusements for kids will be located in the City Parking area across the railroad track from Main Street. 

There will be entertainment all day beginning at 8:00 a.m. from the Main Stage.

Food, crafts, etc. will be sold by vendors all along Main Street-  not to mention the great shops, restaurants, and stores that Saluda has to offer!

The Street Dance is from 7:00 until 11:00 p.m.

There will be ample parking all around town, including free Handicap Parking at the Baptist Church.  Also free parking at the Episcopal Church on Charles Street and in the Saluda School Bus Parking area on Seminary Street.  If all else fails, there will be paid parking at the Saluda School Parking area on Hwy 176 and at the Saluda Volunteer Fire Department on Greenville Street. 

Parade starts at 11, and if you would like to enter, complete the application and drop off at city hall. Application can be downloaded from cityofsaludanc.com website.

SALUDA’S 54th ANNUAL COON DOG DAY FESTIVAL

SATURDAY, JULY 8, 2017

EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT

7:00 a.m. – City Hall Information Tent In Front of Saluda City Hall.

7:00 a.m. – Breakfast for $6.00 at the Masonic Lodge on Ozone Drive by the Polk County Unity Lodge #482. The Blood Connection on site for donations until 12:00 noon. Get your breakfast for free with a donation.

8:00 a.m. – Coon Dog Day 5K Race/Fun Walk in Downtown Saluda NC.

Register on Friday, July 7, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Saluda City Hall. Final registration is from 6:30 until 7:30 a.m. in front of City Hall on Saturday, July 8, before the Race/Fun Walk begins at 8:00 a.m.

10:00 a.m. – Pedal Cars for the Kids in front of Don Mintz Builders office on Main Street and Obstacle Course & Rock Climbing Wall on the Saluda School tennis courts-FREE! Sponsored by the North Carolina Army National Guard from East Flat Rock.

11:00 a.m. – Parade.

No entry fee and is open to businesses, civic groups, bands, car clubs, and anyone else!

12:00 Noon –   Lunch at First Baptist Church of Saluda on Carolina Street.

Fried chicken with all the fixings for only $10 per plate. Call 828 749-3231 for more information.

1:00 p.m. – Slip & Slide across the street from the Saluda School on Hwy. 176. Sponsored by the Saluda Fire & Rescue Department. Once again-FREE!

2:30 p.m. – AKC Licensed Show in the Pavilion at McCreery Park.

Bench Show – Entry Fee $20. Treeing Contest immediately following Show – Entry Fee $5.
