STATUS & GUIDE:  How to Visit the First Peak of the Blue Ridge in November 2024 and beyond.

Welcome back to the First Peak of the Blue Ridge!  Our scenic fall color is all around and your day trips and overnight stays are so important for our local businesses right now. Our small towns of Historic Tryon, Saluda and Columbus, North Carolina are open, plus most surrounding areas.

Here’s the key to visiting:
We’ve created lists of businesses that are Confirmed Open or Temporarily Closed.  Watch for these status icons on each individual business page, under the main photo – no icon means we haven’t heard yet.

Confirmed Open:
We are restocked and are ready to welcome you. Shop, eat and stay local using the links below.  Live music and events are happening so come and have some fun! Updates are made daily.

Temporarily Closed:
Reference our list of Temporarily Closed places – attractions, lodging and businesses that aren’t open for visitors yet.  Updates are made daily.

We are so sad that some of our most scenic natural areas suffered damage to either their property or the route that leads to them.  Progress is being made every day but it’s important to stay safe and avoid closed areas.  This includes many trails, the middle section of Hwy. 176 (the Pacolet River Scenic Byway) and parts of the Green River Gorge area. These places need time to evaluate and announce recovery plans.

Also, personally, there have been serious losses for many local families and some farms/businesses. They are in need of longer term recovery and support – if you want to help, please donate to a trusted organization. ♥

We are here to help you – please call us at 828-894-2324, e-mail us at visit@firstpeaknc.com or message us from our Facebook page.  We thank you for your outpouring of care and we can’t wait to see you soon.
