We’ve got big news of recovery on our beloved Green River, thanks to huge efforts from multiple agencies. The lower section of the river has been restored and is ready to reopen for the summer season. This news comes as Green River Adventures hosts their season-opening Spring Green Bash this weekend on Saluda’s Main Street, announcing their tubing and self-guided inflatable kayaking trips are booking now on this lower section beginning Memorial Day weekend. This week also brings the return of favorite events that lead us into summer, including the amphitheater concerts at Tryon Fine Arts Center and the first Saturday Night Lights festival. Mar 26-Ap 1 EVENTS Quick View: Here’s a look at events happening around the First Peak of the Blue Ridge from Mar. 26 – Ap. 1, 2025. Wow, what a week it’s been for our beautiful county. You might have seen the wildfires in our wilderness areas on the news. We’re ready for some rain! Otherwise, it’s business as usual in our towns and most areas – the smoke comes and goes. Touch base with us for guidance. We are grateful for the tremendous support by firefighters from near and far, and all the people working to protect to our communities. This weekend offers opportunities for us to connect in our small towns. Maybe Tryon’s April Fool’s Festival, with its outhouse races and ‘trashion’ show, is just what we all need to breathe some life into a spring day. There are lots of live music events, including Saturday’s ‘Chase Away the Blues’ concert event. It’s the perfect time for a local spring favorite – Go Fly a Kite day at FENCE (Foothills Equestrian Nature Center). A huge green field with families flying kites is a wonderful sight!
