Beginning Rug Hooking workshop

June 11, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

$100 – $115

The craft of rug hooking is unique to North America and was originally practiced by frugal women using up woo1 scraps in an effort to beautify their homes. Nowadays rug hooking patterns can be traditional or contemporary and “hookers” use a variety of fibers to create pieces for the wall as well as the floor. In this two part workshop, students will use wool strips, burlap and a hook to create two pieces which can be used for mug rugs or coasters. In the first week basic rug hooking techniques will be covered. Students will return the second week to learn how to finish the piece as a coaster and begin another one. There will be several designs to choose from and lots of beautifully hand dyed wood to use. Join Debbie and learn now to make these beautiful and functional pieces!

Materials fee – $55 paid to the instructor. Students may return their frame and hook at the end of the class for a $40 refund.

Age Requirement: 16. No guardian supervision required.♦
