Since 1960, Tryon Arts & Crafts School has helped thousands of individuals pursue their creative dreams. This 10,000 sq. ft. facility offers extensive studio space for workshops, classes, and visiting artists. Plus there is a large gallery with on-going exhibits as well as a gift shop featuring hand-crafted items made by local artisans.  Open 10am-4pm Mon-Fri and 10am-1pm on Saturday.

Beginning Wood Turning

This workshop will cover basic safety issues, introduction to types of wood, wet versus dry, tools (lathe, hand tools), and techniques (clamping, turning, finishes). Forging a Traditional Axe or Tomahawk

Using traditional forging techniques, students will forge a simple hatchet or tomahawk by hand. Students will leave the class with a fully completed ax, including a handle.
