Coffee & Crafts: Macrame’ Plant Hanger

June 8, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

$45

In this workshop, Angelique Gibson will teach some of the most commonly used knots in macramé that can be used to create many different patterns and projects.  Students will be making the “Bumble Bee Planter” which is a sweet way to celebrate the beginning of summer and display your favorite small plant, like a succulent or air plant.  Students will go home with their own planter, a chart of how to create knots, and hopefully the passion to try it on your own.   This hanger will fit a 4″ – 6″ pot.  The instructor will have some available or students may bring one of their own.

Students are asked to bring a pair of sharp scissors.  All materials will be provided.

Coffee and pastries provided by the Tryon Coffeehouse Co-op are included and the fee is just $45.

Angelique is a macramé artist from Johnson City but a recent transplant from Baton Rouge, LA.  She’s been an artist her whole life and dabbled in many styles and has a culinary arts degree specializing in pastry.  Her mother was a macramé artist in the ’70s and when Angelique couldn’t find vintage pieces for her home, she decided to make her own.  After her first project, she was hooked and has worked on it practically every day since.  She calls her style “Not ya mama’s macramé” as she tries to blend the old and new techniques with new styles and her own personal aesthetic to create something fresh and unique.

$45 for all
