In this workshop, students will begin their journey into forge welding. Whether they have just begun forge welding or have never fluxed a hot bar before, students will leave a sound grasp on forge welding theory and practice. We will discuss various types of welds and the different processes used to achieve different tasks. We will begin with a simple lap weld often used in spoon forging, and this spoon will prove invaluable later in the course and other courses that involve forge welding. After the welding in complete, students should hope to explore different types of decorative and utilitarian handles. Beginners are welcome in this class; however, some forging and fire maintenance skills will go a long way when welding.

Students should bring safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and wear all natural fiber clothes and leather shoes. Students may bring personal tools if they wish to.♦
