“The Battle of Earle’s Ford” Speaker Series at Polk County Historical Association
January 20 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free. Tuesday, January 20, 2pm, “The Battle of Earle’s Ford,” at The Polk County History Museum and The House of Flags Museum, 33 Gibson St., Columbus, NC.
Join the Polk County Historical Association as they present a series of programs focusing on the Revolutionary War in observance of America 250. The program will explore the “Battle of Earle’s Ford” which took place during the summer of 1780, when British troops attacked a large encampment of American patriots in what is now Polk County. The Patriot victory helped set the stage for later engagements, including the Battles of Kings Mountain and Cowpens, and contributed to the eventual American triumph in the Revolutionary War. The January program will be hosted by local historian James Metcalf.
