Nov. 2-8 EVENTS Quick View: Here’s a look at what’s happening around the First Peak of the Blue Ridge from Nov. 2-8, 2022. The leaves surprised us with a brilliant show of color through the elevations last weekend – what a remarkable sight! The rain has knocked leaves off some of the trees that got an early start, but the mountains are still covered with a beautiful mix of fall color with some green leaves still mixed in. These colors will continue in the lower elevations for a couple of weeks. (The photo above was taken at Sunset Rock 10/27/22). Sept. 28-Oct. 4 EVENTS Quick View: Here’s a look at what’s happening around the First Peak of the Blue Ridge from Sept 28-Oct 4, 2022. Stormy weather can create spectacular views in the mountains. We’re hoping the expected weather is all bark and no bite. The forecast seems to be softening its expectations for Friday and Saturday morning, so a mountain drive might offer a different peek at our ridges. If you don’t mind the rain, check out this one-woman show at the Tryon Fine Arts Center on Friday evening – “No Fear and Blues Long Gone: Nina Simone” staring Yolanda Rabun. This play imagines Tryon-native Nina Simone sharing songs and stories. Here’s the event schedule as we know it right now. Some events this weekend have been cancelled, several will be rescheduled.
