News/Updates & This Week at the First Peak – Events for Oct 9-15, 2024

Oct 9-15 NEWS/UPDATES & EVENTS Quick View:  Here’s a look at events happening around the First Peak of the Blue Ridge from Oct 9-15, 2024.

What a difference a week makes! Thanks to the amazing crews and agencies working around the clock, the First Peak is rebounding faster than we imagined. We hope that is true for you too.

We want to welcome you to visit the First Peak soon – your day trips and overnight stays are so important for our local businesses, especially during the fall season. Our peak fall color will start mid-October in the higher elevations and then cascade down to the lower elevations around Halloween, ensuring that we have weeks of peak fall color. Please plan to visit us for a weekend getaway – you are an important part of our recovery!

We are excited to say that we have many events on the calendar this week – make some time for yourselves. Enjoy free community concerts in Saluda and Tryon. The Saturday Night Lights festival returns to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (which is also serving as a central site for local food and clothing distributions, and more – we are so grateful). The wineries and creamery are open for tastings and beautiful views sure to ease the stress we’ve experienced.

We want you to know that our small town main streets, many restaurants, shops, attractions, lodging and more have reopened and look forward to seeing you. Some of our scenic natural areas need time to evaluate their property and provide recovery next steps or timing – including trails, attractions and scenic roads. There are still some places that are closed and should be avoided for safety and security. Be sure to verify information directly with each location prior to your visit – we can help at 828-894-2324, send us an e-mail or check the location’s Facebook page/call them directly.

We’ll see you soon!
